Sustainability

Responsibility by tradition

Craftsmanship, quality and respect for people and the environment - since 1948

Sustainability is not a trend for us, but part of our artisanal conviction. Ever since our founding father Kurt Pritsch opened his bakery in Papenhuder Straße in 1948, we have worked according to a simple principle: baking the best products from the best ingredients according to the tried and tested rules of craftsmanship. Today, we combine this tradition with contemporary environmental awareness - for enjoyment with a clear conscience.

Saving food - together against waste

Cooperation with Hamburger Tafel and Too Good To Go

Saving food with the Hamburger Tafel

We have been donating unsold bread, rolls and cakes to Hamburger Tafel every day for over ten years. This means that perfectly good baked goods don't end up in the bin, but on the plates of people who need support. Our team sorts and packs every donation before the store closes - responsibility you can taste.

Too Good To Go - rescue bags at a special price

We offer savior bags with mixed baked goods via the Too Good To Go app. Customers reserve digitally and pick up their surprise box 30 minutes before closing time. In this way, we reduce several hundred kilograms of food waste every month and you can enjoy Pritsch quality at a special price.

What is neither donated to the food bank nor sold via Too Good To Go ends up in the waste bread garbage can for animal feed or similar processing - nothing ends up in the bin.

Packaging with brains

Less plastic, more reusable

Recyclable materials

Our bags and boxes are 90% recyclable. We have completely done away with plastic bags. This is how we package your baked goods sustainably and practically at the same time.

Own containers welcome

You are welcome to bring your own cups or boxes. Alternatively, we offer Recup reusable cups (€1 deposit). As part of the Recup deposit system, cups can be returned to all participating cafés.

Save energy, protect the climate

Modern technology for a sustainable future

We rely on intelligent energy solutions to minimize our ecological footprint:

Heat recovery

Our refrigeration technology uses heat recovery - energy that would otherwise be lost is put to good use.

LED lighting

We use energy-saving LED lighting in our stores and the bakery.

E-delivery vehicles

Our deliveries are made with electrically powered vehicles - emission-free through Hamburg.

Craftsmanship with stock

Durable appliances, regional bakery

Proven technology - cherished and cared for

Many of the machines in our bakery date back to the time of company founder Kurt Pritsch Senior, such as our bread roll press, which is used to shape bread rolls. A little technology is a must, but not a "bread roll line". It takes a practiced hand to operate the lever with the right amount of pressure. We cherish and care for our beloved appliances - real sustainability through longevity.

Regional production in our own bakery

All our baked goods are made in our own bakery in Papenhuder Straße in Uhlenhorst. Loving craftsmanship and care for the product characterize the work processes, from the preparation of the dough to the delivery of the oven-fresh baked goods. Every ciabatta, every roll, every tart - hand-shaped and baked with care.
